HIT OUT (IT) WORKSHOP: LISTENING TO JUMP ROPE
Parini Secondo invites anyone curious about jump rope to take part in a workshop that explores the practice through its athletic, rhythmic, and sonic dimensions. The session introduces the fundamental techniques of jump rope, along with two of its specialties – Double Dutch and Chinese wheel – approached in a practical and playful way. This is followed by listening exercises focused on rhythmic composition. The workshop draws on the research developed for Parini Secondo’s production HIT (2024).
Parini Secondo was born in 2017 from an idea by Sissj Bassani and Martina Piazzi and involves dancers Camilla Neri and Francesca Pizzagalli.
Questioning the relationship between art and originality, the group exploits and supports the potential of open source, copying and remixing other people’s ideas. They collaborate with musician, producer and teacher Alberto Ricca/bienoise, emphasizing the close relationship
No specific athletic training is required, planned exercises also include listening practices to be conducted while seated. We recommend wearing running/gym shoes and comfortable clothing. The artists can provide ropes to participants.
