Dance on Screen

A screening of five unique, international dance films together with the winning films from the high school screendance competition 2023.

Dance film is an art genre that mixes dance and choreography with film and visual arts in completely new artistic expressions. In dance films the movements of the body become the main language instead of the dialogue, we usually experience in films. This format gives the audience a new way to experience storytelling through our bodies.

In this programme you will experience three dancers’ attempt to dance alongside a boulevard in Tehran – even though it’s forbidden, two identical women moving as dark shadows over Faroese mountains, and a crazy surprise party in a bathroom somewhere unknown.

The programme is introduced by curator and dance film artist Maia Elisabeth Sørensen, who is also co-founder of the group dansefilm.dk.

About dansefilm.dk:

dansefilm.dk are a group of dedicated dance film enthusiasts consisting of film director Helle Pagter, administrator and advisor Jens Christian Jensen, and curator and dance film artist Maia Elisabeth Sørensen. They are working to create space for this unique art form in Denmark and the Nordic region to give as many audiences as possible the opportunity to experience dance films.

dansefilm.dk facilitates screenings of dance films, workshops and gatherings in collaborations with other institutions in Denmark and the Nordic region where professional artists and audiences can meet.
