The Labyrinth
A dance performance of time and the labyrinthine course of life
Marie Topp is one of Denmark’s most distinctive young choreographers. Her use of intense slowness takes audiences on meditative and existential journeys that leave no one untouched.
The Labyrinth is a personal work that draws on the choreographer’s own experiences of being in a place in the middle of life that is as closely connected to the birth of children as it is to the death of close relationships.
The audience meets three dancers in three emotional states. They move through a haunting and blurred landscape of light immersed in a soundscape of fantastic voices. In this dream-like form, we can mirror ourselves in the stream of associations that emerge and dissolve in our encounter with the work.
