The SWOP festival is all about SWOPPING, i.e. exchanging like crazy! Swopping performances, ideas and knowledge across regional and national borders; and of course… swapping dance moves!
What is the SWOP Festival?
The SWOP Festival is an international dance festival in Roskilde for children and young people. The Festival is biannual and has been running since 2012. It offers a wide range of performances from all over the world as well as a variety of activities such as the SWOP dance, workshops, film screenings, seminars, etc.
The festival’s performances and activities take place on the stage at Laboratoriet, Roskilde Library, Søjlepladsen and in the streets of Roskilde.
The purpose of the festival is to give children and young people (and everyone else) great artistic experiences and at the same time give them the opportunity to explore what dance can do.
Dorte Grannov balslev, Iscene, wrote about SWOP festival 2022:
The intergenerational aspect became a clear theme at this year’s festival and seminar, emphasising the importance of continuing to create performances of a quality and depth that children and adults can experience together.
